Meet Dr Gerry Nastasia, DC, DABCO, DIANM
Board Certified Neuromusculoskeletal Specialist
& Primary Spine Practitioner
I chose to become a chiropractic doctor because my mom was helped greatly for her neck problem through chiropractic care. He was also the first one to diagnose her with her medical condition of Multiple Sclerosis. The idea of helping a patient with my knowledge and hands appealed immensely to me. Throughout my professional career of over thirty years, I have had the privilege of helping many thousands of patients from literally all over the globe. I love what I do and I think it shows!
Achieving Excellence
In 1990, I graduated from chiropractic school with Honors from Logan University in St Louis, MO in the USA. At the time, I was one of the very few chiropractic interns to ever have participated in hospital training at Metropolitan Medical Centers. Additionally at my graduation, I was selected to receive the Health Center Achievement Award for Clinical Excellence.
A Long Career
Over my three-decade-plus career, I have practiced in various surroundings: solo practice, group practice & institutional both in a hospital and an academic setting. Besides ten years in Dubai, I practiced in the Boston area in the USA for 17 years & in Bermuda and served as an educator at a chiropractic college.
I was one of the first chiropractors in Massachusetts to be granted hospital privileges. I am a board-certified chiropractic orthopedist and a board-certified neuromusculoskeletal specialist, and the only certified Cox® Technic doctor in the Middle East!
I was an Assistant Professor at Southern California University of Health Sciences. I educated, trained, and mentored chiropractic students and interns. This was an amazing experience! Proudly, I received an award from SCU’s Student Association for my teaching efforts.
Becoming a Primary Spine Practitioner
Most recently, I have obtained certification from the University of Pittsburgh as a Primary Spine Practitioner (PSP.) This is a first-of-its-kind program in the United States. The PSP is a trained professional who serves as the point of entry provider for patients with spine-related disorders. The Primary Spine Practitioner provides diagnosis and management for the majority without the need for referral and triage for the remaining based on each patient’s unique features.
An Active Life
I am the proud Dad of three fantastic, grown children! An active lifestyle is my passion, walking, and fitness training are part of my weekly routine. I enjoy golf (even have a hole-in-one) and I am an advanced open-water scuba diver. After additional postgraduate training and USA specialty examination, I became board-certified in the sub-specialty of Chiropractic Orthopedics and I am now a Diplomate of the International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. Staying active in my profession, I proudly served as the President of the Emirates Chiropractic Association. Lastly, I was a member of the Dubai Health Authority’s Healthcare Professional Licensure Assessment Panel. The governmental body that licenses chiropractic doctors in Dubai.
